1. Find Out What Makes You Really Happy:

To discover what makes you truly happy, you have to be ready to study yourself. They say that those who spend time studying others are wise but happier are those that spend more time studying themselves.

True happiness comes from reflecting on the goals that you have set to achieve. You can really get to know yourself by taking some alone time in solitude. You can practice some meditation. This will relax your body and in turn focus your body and mind. You can also choose to indulge in a bubble bath, a spa treatment, and a glass of wine or some relaxing music. Never feel guilty for making yourself a priority.

2. Show Yourself Some Love:

Many times we are focused on other people but we completely forget about ourselves. Self-love is all about appreciating ourselves. Self-love is derived from actions that support our psychological, physical, and spiritual growth. When you realise that true love can only come from within, you will truly be happy. You can only love others by truly loving yourself.

You can practice self-love by not seeking for validation in other people. Do not try to compete with other people. Run your own race and by so doing, you will discover that everyone is battling their own struggles. We all have the strength and tools within ourselves to be completely fulfilled.

The other way to practice self-love is to note down all the things that you like about yourself. Concentrate on all the positive things about yourself for example your personality, figure, hair, eyes just to name but a few.

3. Exercise And Develop A Healthy Lifestyle:

Exercising is a great way of achieving happiness. When you look good, you will also feel good about yourself. You can start out small by walking to work instead of driving or using the bus. Exercising doesn’t have to be boring. There are amazing programmes such as kick boxing, spin class, Zumba these will allow you to exercise in an enjoyable way.

To make workouts more interesting, you can enlist a family member to work out with you. You will in turn have an accountability partner cheering you and hence you will be less likely to quit. You can check out you tube for other exercises that you can partake at the comfort of your home. The most important thing is to ensure that your exercise routine does not get monotonous. When you get bored, you can always switch things up a bit.

4. Eat Clean:

You are what you eat. Therefore, the food that you consume on a daily basis could affect how you feel about yourself. It is critical to look at the foods that we eat and select healthier alternatives. You can keep a weekly journal of all the food that you have consumed. By so doing you will be able to review it and see the areas that require improvement.

When you eat clean i.e. vegetables, whole grains, lean protein your body get nourished and hence feel better about yourself. The quantity of the food we eat also affects our moods. You may find yourself binge eating when you’re sad; you may feel better for that period but this will be followed with feelings of sadness. Regulating the portions of food we eat will also ensure that we live healthier lives and are in turn happier.

5. Discover Your Passion And Nurture It:

There are certain things that we want to do at least once in our lives but we always shelve them away as the time is never right. The saying that say there is no better time like the present is quite true. Stop putting your passions on hold for a better time do them right away when you can.

If you are passionate about food, take a cooking class, take a day trip to the park if you are into nature and if its art, buy a few supplies and start painting. It does not matter what your passions are just take steps in fulfilling them. This will make you a happier person. If you do not know what your passion is, that is also fine. Sometimes you need to try out a bunch of different things to know what really tickles your fancy.

Trying new things will make you a more open minded person, it will help you network and grow and the best thing is, it’s actually fun. New experiences enable you to get out of our comfort zone. You will also be surprised to learn about all the wonderful things this world has to offer.

6. Do A Nice Thing For Yourself Daily:

Treating yourself with tender care on a daily basis will work wonders for the way you feel about yourself. It does not matter how big or small the deed is, just commit to treat yourself to a good deed each day. Keeping the pledge to do a good deed for yourself each day will encourage you to treat yourself well. When you treat yourself well, you will invariably treat those around you with care.

Most people are disappointed about the past, worried about the future and forget to appreciate the present. Our past mistakes make us into the people we are today therefore forgive yourself for your mistakes and learn from them. We could also say that there are no actual mistakes just lessons. Your mistakes should never define you instead they should be stepping stones to bigger things. Learn to celebrate the small achievements of the present.

Life can be hard sometime so by taking time to do the simple things such as watching the sun rise or sun set, indulging in a nice cup of herbal tea could be the thing that actually revitalizes your body, soul and spirit. The best things in life are free so ensure you enjoy them in the present. Do not entertain negative thoughts of the things that you do not have.

    This was very good advice. It is definitely is important to take time to do nice things for yourself and not feel guilty about it.     I really enjoyed your post, especially the part about working on a passion! It is so hard sometimes to take time for myself since I have kids at home. However, I’ve always wanted to write a book, and I stayed up late many a night to finish my very first book. It has been an awesome experience, and now I am learning about the publishing process.       I have to agree exercise is such a pain. Requires some series tough mental strength. But I have noticed that afterwords you feel so much better, because of the endorphins lol.
